Pirate Battleships!

Ahoy Shipmates! It’s half term. What are you up to? Why not play Pirate Battleships! You don’t even need a computer.  Charlie and I played and then Fernando wanted a go. He can’t read but he knew all his letters by the time he’d beaten me 3-2! You just need 2 pieces of paper, 2 pens and a friend. On your piece of paper, make two grids, 11 squares by 12 squares. Get your friend to do the same on their paper.
Call one grid My Pirate Fleet. Call the other one The Enemy Fleet.
Then keeping them secret from each other fill in My Pirate Fleet. This is how you do it.

You can have two Men O’War - 4 squares long, three galleons - 3 squares long, three  sloops - 2 squares long, four rowing boats - 1 square only. You can decide where to put them.

Now the battle can begin!
Take it in turns to call out a position. So if your friend says A1 tell him ‘miss’ and mark it on ‘My Pirate Fleet’ with a tick. But if your friend says A9 tell him ‘hit’ and mark it with a X.

Don’t forget to mark on ‘The Enemy Fleet’ any position you call out and mark any square where you hit your enemy.

The first one to sink all the other one’s ships is the winner. Good luck, shipmates!
